Fajardo, PR, August 22, 2014 –(PR.com)– On June 3rd, 2014 Customed, Inc. initiated a recall of sterile convenience surgical packs. The products have been found to have a potential defect due to adhesion. The defect could result in loss of product sterility and lead to infection. Researchers have found that infection associated with cardiovascular implantable electronic device (CIED) procedures resulted in substantial incremental admission mortality and long-term mortality that varied with the CIED type and occurred, in part, after discharge. They also found that almost half of the incremental admission cost was for intensive care. The full text of these findings was published online Sept. 12 in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
